There is this antique store on magazine street that I used to stop in from time to time and the store had these beautiful wood floors that were painted with a light grey and white pattern; I always thought that would be such a interesting thing to do in a house. After watching Million Dollar Decorators this summer I was reminded again how much I love patterned floors as seen in Mary McDonald's work. So whether you prefer bold, in-your-face patterns or subtle, understated ones the use of painted floors really adds an unexpected and original characteristic to one's home.
