If I lived here I would wear this...

I was flipping through my new Elle Decor the other day and I came across this amazing NYC apartment.  It belongs to the uber stylish newly-wed couple Claiborne Swanson Frank, a photographer, and James Frank.  When she moved in he gave her carte blanche to do whatever with the empty apartment but did give her one helpful resource- his mother who happens to be a contributing editor at Elle Decor- I die!  So I thought- if I lived in this fab NYC apartment, what would I wear?  And above is what I came up with.

I love all of the natural light coming into the apartment and I also love that it gives off a fun and youthful vibe.  The furniture and curtains are neutral but through the use of pillows (I spy Madeline Weinrib!), flowers, books, accessories, the place is anything but boring.  Also that leopard x-bench is pretty incredible!

The new bride in front of a painting by Russell Christoffersen.

How cool is that bowl on the dining room table??

I love a galley kitchen.  I spy two of my favorite things: a huge slab of Carrara marble and a Viking range and oven

This guest bedroom/office is so practical and inviting.  I really like that she mixed some mainstream furnishings with more expensive ones.  She purchased the daybed from Ballard Designs and the desk is from Williams-Sonoma home.  But that Madeline Weinrib rug- that is amazing and I am sure well worth the splurge!

Time to Celebrate

Time to Celebrate
This weekend, celebrations are in order! Seamus passed his Internal Medicine Board Exams! I am so proud of him- he was so dedicated to studying during the move and all of the wedding planning- I knew that all of his hard work would pay off!  And I actually got a new job this week!  I am starting a Judicial Clerkship next week in Baltimore and I am so excited!  So in honor of our many celebrations I'm dreaming of driving to Fredrick, Maryland to go to VOLT- Bryan Voltaggio's incredible restaurant and doing a tasting menu.  And if I were going there I would wear this!  Also another congratulations are in order for my great friend (and bridesmaid) Ashley for passing the Texas Bar- I am so thrilled for you and I am sure that you are going to live it up - Texas style!- this weekend!
Happy Weekend Everyone!

Happy (Belated) Halloween

Photobucket
I've been so busy that I completely forgot to post about our Halloween weekend.  This was our first "holiday" in Baltimore and I was anxious to see just how well Baltimore does costumes.  I have always found all of the costumes on Frenchman Street in New Orleans so impressive, so I was hoping that Baltimore would be just as creative- and they were!! Seamus and I had such a great time in Federal Hill that we dragged ourselves home way past my bed time and we may shared a slim jim- the evidence (wrapper) was in my purse the next day- can't believe I ate that!
We started off the night somewhat healthy with this awesome tomato soup that I made.  I found the recipe on my newest blog obsession - Spoon Fork Bacon their recipes are amazing and their food styling is so gorgeous- you must check it out.

Towards the beginning of the night.... Maryland football player, Disco Queen, Rainbow bright, and  a Cow (6 years in a row I think :)

Christopher Robin

How great is her Madonna costume!?

Slash and Axl Rose

Her costume was even more amazing when she stood up.

I loved this one! Princess Beatrice!

Lil' Wayne- Holla!!!

AND THE WINNER FOR THE NIGHT: THE GUY FROM THE HANGOVER 2.  I RAN ACROSS THE ROOM WHEN I SAW HIM TO TAKE HIS PICURE- I BET HE THOUGHT I WAS A FREAK!

Hope you all had a great Halloween!!

High Point Furniture Market: Day 2

Photobucket
Great Entryway at Cyan

What a different chair- it's shearling! (at Cyan)

Love this vignette at Ferguson Copeland

What a feminine living room - also at Ferguson Copeland

What a cool thing to put on a book- a chain length paper weight

Arteriors has hands down the coolest lamps.  I am obsessed with this barnacle one.

This "Poppy" lamp form Arteriors is at the top of my wish list, it would look great on a side side table that I have my eye on

Another great lamp at arteriors

Favorite find for day 2: this faux shagreen console table.  It would look awesome in our master bedroom.

Beautiful lamp at Bungalow 5

My little brother, Carter, was picking out his leather chair as a belated graduation present- we all agreed he was a bit too big for this one!!

Another obsession: this chair by Jessica Charles for Hancock and Moore

Jessica Charles' inspiration board for her newest collection

I crossed one book of my list- Bryan Batt's Big Easy Style, which he graciously signed for me.  Can't wait to check out his holiday collection of gifts at Hazelnut next time I am in New Orleans

Best part of the trip: my mom was invited to the HIckory Chair event and I got to tag along.  Hickory chair has such beautiful furnishings and rubbing elbows with the likes of Tobi Fairley and Thomas O'Brien wasn't bad either :)

Loving this chartreuse ikat fabric

Another Market Obsession: so cheerful!
Finally found the prefect lamp for Seamus' man room.

Hope you all have a great weekend.  Seamus and I are celebrating our first Halloween here in Baltimore on Saturday.  Halloween kind of crept up on us so we are recycling costumes.  I'm going as Rainbow Bright and Seamus will be a cow.  What are you dressing up as?

High Point Furniture Market: Day 1

Photobucket
I had such a great time at High Point Furniture Market with my mom this past weekend.  We saw a bunch of great stuff and I found all sorts of new design inspirations for our house
These were my all time favorite finds at Market- framed geodes at Pheromone by Christopher Marley.  I am still drooling over them and I have the perfect place for three of them in the house
Beautiful antique bread boards from Europe 2 You.  My mom got these as presents for my brothers and me; she already has one and it is great for doing a really rustic and organic cheese and fruit spread.
These nickel trays with leather handles from Barbara Cosgrove would be perfect in Seamus' man room as a place to put his Scotch and Bourbon.
Another favorite find- I am still dreaming of this cocktail table from Dovetail.
Festoni- love the lucite legged bench
Such an adorably feminine chair at Wesley Hall
I love this nailhead bench from Vanguard.  I have the perfect fabric in mind to upholster it in.

Loving the nailhead x-benches; they would be perfect upholstered in my faovirte china seas fabric and would happily at the foot  of our bed

Love this cabinet and mirror by Thom Filicia for Vanguard.
This is a great side tide by Michael Weiss for Vanguard.  Seamus has been asking for a a place to put his cup of tea so this might just be the perfect thing!

Another great side table
The full room
Love these pillows and still obsessing over nailhead
An awesome silver-leafed spool chair at Bentley Churchill
Love the Mad Men vibe at Dwell Studios
A cool side table by Dwell
Great cowhide bench at Festoni Attic
